Margaret and the other lawyers and paraprofessionals in her office bill according to the amount of time expended on behalf of the client for each task.
Tasks include client meetings, the creation of legal documents, preparation for an appearance at court hearings, mediations, and trials.
The time necessary for travel, telephone calls, and email is typically included in the monthly bill to the client.
It is Margaret’s practice to require an advance fee deposit from each client, which can range from $1,000 to $5,000 or more, depending on the complexity of the case, the timing of Court hearings and trial, and other factors, which Margaret will discuss with you in detail.
It is also her practice to require the client to maintain a trust account balance of at least $2,500 to cover ongoing costs and expenses. The contract between the lawyer and the client is in writing, signed by both parties, and clients are provided with a copy of the agreement. Margaret routinely seeks an award of attorney fees for her client, but such awards are based upon statute and court rule and are not guaranteed. In order to make things a little easier, Margaret’s office accepts payments by Mastercard, Visa, and American Express.
